Judging Categories

Each contestant will be evaluated in the following categories:

  1. Regional Costume and Community Introduction: All contestants will introduce their home community wearing a regional costume at the start of the final showcase

  2. Speech Presentation: Contestants will be judged on confidence, presentation, content of speech, and audience interest

  3. Private Interview: Each contestant will have a private interview with the panel of judges. The contestants will receive interview training from PowerTalk

  4. Public Interview: Each contestant in the top 16 semi-finalists will have a public on-stage interview during the final program event.
  1. ‘What is Canada?’: Each contestant in the top 5 finalists will present a 30 second – 1 minute talk on what Canada means to him/her

  2. Community Platform Improvement Issue: Each contestant will identify an aspect in their community, province or country that they would like to improve upon and represent as Top Teen of Canada. You may be asked questions on your issue during the private interview or the public on-stage interview if you are chosen as one of the top 16 semi-finalists

  3. Personal Showcase: Contestants will be judged on their skill and passion in presenting their personal showcase

  4. Sportsmanship: Contestants will be observed and judged on how they present themselves throughout Top Teen of Canada week
