The Top Teen of North America Youth Development Program has been developed by Canadian public school teachers with seven major goals:
- To recognise youth in their local communities for their talents and ambitions
- To provide fun and educational training for teens outside of a school setting
- To allow teens the opportunity to travel outside of their hometown or country
- To provide teenagers with positive youth role models
- To encourage teenagers to take leadership roles in their community
- To provide scholarship opportunities to students to enhance their educational dreams
- To demonstrate the value of giving yourself to your community and charity
