Canadian Cancer Society's Cops for Cancer and the American Cancer Society

The Top Teen of North America Youth Development Program has chosen the Canadian Cancer Society’s “Cops for Cancer” and the American Cancer Society as its Charity of Choice for 2011.

Cops for Cancer is a partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society and police officers, RCMP and emergency services personnel from across British Columbia. Each fall, Canadian law enforcement personnel cycle a pre-designated route in their region, raising funds and awareness for paediatric cancer research and programs that support kids with cancer, such as Camp Goodtimes. Cops for Cancer currently holds four distinct tours in British Columbia, but their hope is that the event will eventually be held in every province and territory across North America. All funds raised by Cops for Cancer benefit paediatric cancer research and support programs nationwide.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. With more than two million volunteers worldwide, the American Cancer Society is one of the oldest and largest voluntary health agencies in the United States.
